It’s always tough to say goodbye. I’ve never been good at it. But I enjoy a challenge and I’m passionate about my faith in Jesus and His Catholic Church. So when the opportunity came up to combine the two, how could I say no?
It was by no means an easy decision. The team at AvalonBay is the best I’ve ever worked with and the multi-family industry is filled with so many talented individuals. We have done some amazing things with many more on the near horizon.
But sometimes in life you have to step out in faith. That’s what the Kilmurry family is doing.
I am now the Director of Client and Customer Relations with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). I’ll get an opportunity to drive sales of products on www.usccb.org and help inform the direction of digital marketing for over 17,000 parishes nationwide. The web, social and mobile opportunities are limitless! As you can tell, I’m pretty stoked.
And my first task – help take an initiative called Faith, Worship, Witness across the finish line. It’s a one-year, new evangelization print toolkit for parishes across the country. I’ll be helping to rebrand, digitize and add a social media component.
And the move was also a quality of life play. I’ll have a shorter commute, opportunities for telecommuting and all around more time with my family (and now that we have five children, the honey-do list is really long!). I’ll also get travel to countries like Germany and Rome in order to get a worldy understanding of the marketing opportunities and challenges facing the global Church. And, who knows, if I had a 0% chance of meeting Pope Francis before, you gotta figure that increases to at least 1%.
I’m trusting God will work everything out and take care of the family. I would sure appreciate any prayers you can offer as I turn the page onto this new chapter. Thanks to all my friends and God Bless!
